Day 6

Second year update by Matt
Hola! Today was very long for us second year students. We spent the entire day hammering through information on the database and constructing our presentations that will be shared on Friday. We even spent all afternoon working and did not partake in any activities. All this hard work is bound to pay off in the end since all of us are getting some very great results! In addition, we were given a brief introduction to the possible Seeds of Change database. Through this database, previous second year students could do bioinformatics to research possible drugs for diseases as a job. Later, after working, we headed to a local’s home where we prepared an authentic Costa Rican meal, which was quite good. As for now, we work on into the night!

First year update by Nathan

Hey, everyone back home! This was probably the longest day for the first year students as from dawn to dusk, the day was spent on our investigations and presentations. Despite the consistent drizzle/downpour of rain, we all kept pushing hard through our experiments. Battling the adversity, each group was required to make adjustments to their experiments to even be able to finish in time! After hours and hours of hard work, we were able to get a break from science and go to a local family’s house for dinner. We were all able to join in and help prepare the meal before enjoying all of the food. It’s fantastic being able to see the work that local Costa Rican families go through every day. Now, it’s time to go start working on our poster boards and presentations. All our work will finally be shown off as our final presentations loom Friday morning.
